Ash Patel of Southwest Hospitality Management knows that our state’s public lands attract many of the tourists/visitors who stay in one of his several Flagstaff or Sedona Hotels. He is all about providing for a better outdoor recreation experience for these visitors and locals alike.
“Tourism being one of the top three industries in the state, it’s going to be important to jump start this part of the economy quickly,” said Ash. “Domestic travel is going to be very important and we need to convince Americans that Arizona is the place to visit. Arizona has a diverse range of attractions with spectacular scenic landscapes and breathtaking beauty that changes every 20 to 30 miles, we can easily compete with Colorado, Utah, Nevada and other States.
Ash believes that both businesses and the environment can find a good balance, especially in Arizona, where we know that tourism depends on having access to the outdoors. But as he points out, protection of our public lands and natural resources is crucial if we’re going to use it to grow the economy in a sustainable manner.
“I want to focus on how to make a better outdoor experience in the state. People will know that whatever GO AZ is doing will bring better access and facilities and protect our trails, lakes and environment,” added Ash. “We need to take care of it – it’s ours, it’s Arizona.”
