When Bryan lost his first career during the 2008 economic crisis, he decided his next career would be in service of one of his greatest passions: helping snakes while making homeowners happy. His business has only grown ever since.
“We provide science-oriented snake mitigation services - this is not pest control or extermination. We solve the problems that happen when urban environments sprawl into snake habitats. We help move snakes, educate people on the benefits of them, and use our funds to study and promote conservation actions.”
Bryan’s passion for public lands shows in his research of them. He uses his businesses’ funding to study natural places, like the Phoenix Mountains Preserve, that are surrounded by development. He hopes that by studying those kinds of areas, Arizona can plan future developments more intelligently - and with an eye toward the natural environment and habitats of the area.
“There are lessons there on how to progress responsibly. We just need to find them and listen.”
Rattlesnake Solutions is excited to become a Get Outdoors Arizona member because they say more education and empathy is needed in the conversations around public lands. As Bryan said:
“If you want someone to care about something, there has to be empathy there. As business owners, we need to share our interests with our communities and show them why our public lands and wildlife, even the snakes that get so much bad PR, are so important to Arizona.”
While homeowners don’t see 90% of the work they do, Rattlesnake Solutions removes snakes from unwanted places and does whatever it takes to keep them alive, like working with local public land rangers to scout for good places to put the snakes so that they won’t wander into neighborhoods again.
