Eric Moore’s mission is to connect people to nature through birds. As a life-long bird lover, he started two businesses catering to other bird enthusiasts – Jay’s Bird Barn and Arizona Field Optics in both Prescott and Flagstaff. The businesses support nature lovers, including bird watchers, hunters, hikers and other people who just like to get outdoors.
“We can’t conserve birds just by feeding them in our yards,” said Eric. “We need large, undisturbed native lands for bird habitat, breeding grounds and migratory corridors so preserving our public lands is crucial.”
Jay’s Bird Barn and Arizona Field Optics sell custom-mixed bird seed, feeders, binoculars, tripods, scopes, maps and gifts. The stores also organize free, guided bird walks on public lands every week. The truth is that without wildlife and public lands, Eric’s businesses wouldn’t exist.
“We feed birds not because they need us to feed them, but because we want to invite nature into our lives,” Eric added. “People find peace and hope in wildlife and the great outdoors, especially during this time of COVID-19.”
