New Bureau of Economic Analysis numbers show that outdoor recreation is vital to AZ’s economy

According to new data released by U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), the outdoor economy is now outpacing domestic growth AND is contributing more than $1 trillion to the U.S. economy (source).

In Arizona, outdoor recreation now makes up 2.5% of the state’s economy and adds $11.7 billion into the local economy (source)! These strong numbers are thanks to the health of small, local outdoor recreation businesses like those that make up Get Outdoors Arizona’s membership.

The top 5 economic contributors of Arizona’s outdoor industry were:

– RVing
– Boating/Fishing
– Hunting/Shooting/Trapping
– Motorcycling/ATVing
– Equestrian

These latest economic figures, contributed to the ongoing growth and popularity of outdoor recreation, also shows that investing in our public lands is not optional – it’s mandatory for a strong, sustainable economy.
